Life at RGE: Kaka Wong’s Journey of Growth and Grace

From a challenging start to a well-established role, Kaka has earned her position as a respected leader and colleague.

A graduate of Hong Kong University, Kaka’s career began in banking, with experience across Hong Kong and Taiwan. Her journey with RGE started under unusual circumstances – she joined the company while pregnant with her first child, balancing a new job with the demands of motherhood. For Kaka, success means building meaningful connections, both inside the company and beyond. This approach helped her not only progress in her career but build a supportive network of fellow working mothers who have become lifelong friends.

Kaka believes that every woman has the ability to succeed in leadership roles. “We are in charge of finding our own happiness,” she says. “I look for the small joys at work which gives me a sense of accomplishment that drives me to do my best.”

Now serving as RGE’s Regional Treasurer in Hong Kong, Kaka oversees funding and financing strategies across Asia. Managing global relationships is a demanding role, but Kaka is grateful for the experiences and the strong teams she has worked with along the way.

Now as a mother of three, Kaka is passionate about supporting working mothers and fostering a workplace culture where everyone has the opportunity to thrive. “Human capital is the most valuable resource in any company,” she explains. “When we focus on building a supportive environment, everyone benefits.”

Kaka balances her professional life as RGE Regional Treasurer with a vibrant personal life with her family.

Despite her busy schedule, Kaka prioritises her well-being and maintains a healthy balance. She makes time for hot yoga during lunch breaks and believes that integrating self-care into daily life is crucial for long-term success. “Balancing priorities is key and I believe that staying committed to my personal well-being and growth helps me perform at my best, both professionally and personally,” she says.

In her 14-year journey at RGE, Kaka has guided her teams through both challenges and triumphs, anchored in patience, trust, and perseverance. “Time will tell if all the hard work pays off,” she reflects. In 2024, her commitment to mentorship and gender diversity earned her the title of  “Leading Woman in Treasury” by the Corporate Treasurer Awards.

“I always ask myself: How can I support my stakeholders in the way they need most?” Kaka shares. “When we start from that place of understanding, relationships grow naturally. And the trust we build will be our greatest asset, both in business and in life.”

Whether managing financial strategies, balancing work and family, or making time for self-care, Kaka continues to embrace new challenges and inspire those around her. Her story is a powerful reminder that with dedication, support, and the right mindset, women can thrive in leadership.
