Asia Pacific Rayon (APR) debuted at the Indo Intertex in late March 2019. The event gathered manufacturers from various nodes of the value chain – fibre, yarn, fabric and garment.
Held at the JIEXPO Kemayoran, Jakarta, the three-day Indo Intertex was in its 17th instalment. In addition to catching up with customers and partners, APR representatives took the opportunity to promote viscose as a viable sustainable material in fashion and an alternative to petroleum-based synthetics.
APR was also part of the event’s Viscose World Exhibition, alongside its five partners (Sateri included), representing different parts of the value chain.
Indo Intertex 2019 saw a new addition in Indo Project Runway, which aimed to bridge local fashion with the textile industry. APR’s efforts in promoting viscose as a sustainable and renewable material have shown encouraging results, with over 200 participants registering to use viscose.
Clinching an award for “Best Booth”, APR’s booth featured a unique crowd-pulling treadmill fashion show, in which models paraded viscose-made apparel on treadmills. The apparels were designed by APR’s fashion designer collaborators.
As part of continuous public education, APR’s booth also displayed the production life cycle of viscose-rayon – from plantation to fashion. Exhibition delegates and visitors got to see and touch samples of seeds, woodchips and dissolving pulp – all very tangibly representing APR’s vertically integrated value chain and superior quality viscose-rayon.
With APR’s focus on responsible sourcing and clean manufacturing processes, while presenting an efficient yet biodegradable and renewable alternative to other fabrics, the company is poised to be a key player in Indonesia’s textile industry.
