Latest updates on what's happening in RGE Group
RGE Founder’s Day 2021 was observed globally from October through December under another year of special circumstances. However, the COVID-19 global pandemic and new variants did not dampen RGE companies’ resolve to continue creating value for community, country, climate, customer and the company – our Founder and Chairman Sukanto Tanoto’s 5C’s business philosophy.
RGE’s 60,000-strong staff enthusiastically adapted last year’s Founder’s Day strategic approach with a hybrid of hands-on volunteerism (while observing safe distancing measures) and raising funds for community organizations fighting the pandemic on the front lines.
The RGE Founder’s Day 2021 ‘call to action’ was kicked off with a launch video distributed globally featuring RGE Managing Director Anderson Tanoto and words of inspiration by RGE Chairman Sukanto Tanoto.

Each RGE business group rose to the challenge to identify a local community organisation dedicated to pandemic relief or community development, and rallied its staff to raise funds for the organisation. RGE shareholders generously matched the total funds raised by 3-to-1 so that we multiply the impact of our support.
An amazing US$500,000 was raised for 13 community organisations, including:

And new this year, we set up the Global RGE Fund to help Brazil and Indonesia’s fight against COVID-19. These two countries are particularly hard hit by the pandemic and need our help the most. Therefore, 80% of the final amount raised was donated to the local community organization selected by each business group, and 20% to the Global RGE Fund which provided food and basic needs support for vulnerable families in Indonesia and Brazil.
As per our tradition, RGE Founder’s Day is also dedicated to providing all global staff a refresher on RGE’s Core Values – which has been key to our success for over 50 years. This year, our Core Values workshops focused on behavioural statements – the specific actions we should take to interact with each other in our workplace. Once again, more than 1,000 Core Values workshops took place around the world. We hope that you are now taking those behavioural statements into action!
